Year 8 Globalization field-trips to Aberdeen on 14th and 16th of November

Year 8 are currently studying the hot topic of globalisation in their Individuals and Society classes and recently had the opportunity to look at an example of this on their own doorstep.  Students were looking to identify if globalisation had spread to Aberdeen through the use of a “clone town” survey.  This was a great way for our students to learn about geography and economics around them and to try out data collection, which is a vital part of the social studies toolkit.  The skills learned on this trip will help our students to communicate effectively, work well with others and become knowledgeable about their own place and space, as well as being able to take a global view of pressing issues.

A big thank-you to all the parents who helped out by giving up their time to help South Island School students.
