‘Wear Your Sneakers to School’ Day – this FRIDAY 11th NOVEMBER
It’s that time of year again! Asia’s largest youth movement, a race to tackle the injustice and widespread global issue of human trafficking – the 24 Hour Race is back again on the weekend of 19th November-20th November!
Since 2010, the 24 Hour Race has engaged more than 1,500,000 youths and raised more than HKD 6.5 million with the sole aim and purpose to tackle this on-going and global issue of modern-day slavery. With the “by youth, for youth” model, the 24 Hour Race is able to empower young people to take a stand and show that they too have the ability to make a change in their world.
South Island School students have participated in the race for many years now – as organisers, team leaders, and runners. However, this year we want to take this collaboration to the next level and have the whole school contribute to the fundraising effort by having a “Wear your trainers to school day” on the 11th of November. There will be a collection in school, and every dollar donated will go to anti-trafficking campaigns that strive to eradicate modern-day slavery. So get ready to slip on your running shoes, and make a difference to a worthwhile cause!
