Sports Bulletin (6 December 2019)
It was another busy week for matches at South Island School. First up we had the U14 tennis boys playing their first ISSFHK match against Harrow. SIS won 4-0. It was Abraham Poon’s debut match and he was also man of the match.
On the same evening, our A grade girls netball had a very important match down at Wong Chuk Hang. SIS won 17-9. Well done and good luck for your next match!
The U16 girls football team played their first ISSFHK match on Tuesday. It was a strong start to the U16 girls football season as they won 5-0 against ISF. Woman of the match was: Kat Hoffman. She scored a hatrick with three long range shots outside the area. Well done ladies!
The girls hockey team had a great game. They won 9-1 with Sophie Poulton scoring 8 goals. What a great win! Congratulations!
Our U20 boys Football played against GSIS and won 5-2 in theISSFHK Cup with several Year 10 players stepping up and playing. Man of the match goes to: Sherman Wong. Great job and good luck to the rest for your season!
To close Tuesday evening, the Girls A grade basketball won their second HKSSF game, 54-18. Women of the match honours was shared between Maeve and Bethany, but it were a good game all around. Congratulations!
On Wednesday, our Division 2 tennis boys played against CDNIS in the ISSFHK league. SIS won 3-1 and have now won 3 straight matches in this league. Let’s hope this winning streak continues. Man of the match goes to Yann Zylberberg.
The girls A grade netball team played against Heep Yunn at Wong Chuk Hang. Walking into the game, the girls knew it would be a tough and tight game. SIS won 26-21 but throughout the game it was super close. Women of the match go to: Caitlin Donovan and Ingrid Lam.
Our A Grade boys played in the HKSSF Division 1 league on Wednesday. It was a tough match for them as they played against Wah Yan HK. Unfortunately SIS lost 0:3. A great effort from the boys and good luck to the rest of your season.
It was the second HKSSF game for the A grade girls basketball this week. The girls won 73-8. The whole team played well and women of the match goes to: Caitlin Donovan and Bethia Kwok. Also, congratulations to the team as they are now onto the second round!
On Tuesday evening some of our U19 boys were selected to represent ESF to participate in the U19 international Dubai 7’s tournament. Good luck to the team and enjoy Dubai!
Mr Redding and Mr Thurbon have taken the A grade boys basketball team to Phuket for a basketball competition at BISP. Good luck to the team in the tournament as well and hopefully they’ll be back with the trophy!
