SIS Film Awards 2016

FilmAd2 FilmAd1The 9th annual edition of the SIS Film Awards was held in The Hall last Friday 3 June afternoon.  Students, staff and parents were joined by presenters Michael Robinson from SCAD, alongside long-term supporters of the event, John Curran (freelance cinematographer) and benefactor Jennifer Deayton of Bodega Media. Three of the awards were given by alumni Eva Yeung (Class of 2006), Alison Thomas (Class of 2011) and Alexa Bautista (Class of 2013). The final two awards were presented by Chris Durbin, the Senior Education Officer at the English Schools Foundation.



Big winners on the afternoon included Tobie Tse- 12C2 (Editor’s Award & Film Award) as well as Virendra de Alwis (Cinematography Award and film Award) and Timothy Cheung (Director’s Award & Film Award. Zach Chan scooped the Presentation Award, making it 4 trophies for the film Luminosity.  Whilst a superb film, two other nominations were singled out for praise by the presenters. Kin won the Sound Design/Composition Award (Daniel Bagwell-Purefoy 12M2) and narrowly missed out in two other categories. (Justin Tang 12K2 and Irving Teh- 12K2) Kyle Li (12C1) deservedly won the Making a Difference Award given his groundbreaking film, produced entirely on Blender.  Jake Grubb- 12N1- (Scriptwriting Award), Alex Yang- 13B2 (Factual Film Award) and Marco Po- 13M2 (Film & TV Production Award) were all winners thanks to their outstanding BTEC Media work.

New categories representing the range of excellent production work produced by Year 9 students was also contested with Cannan Chan (9K1) and Shiva Murugan (9B1) winning the individual categories and Chrystal Kim (9B2), Ye Young Han (9M1), Esther Liang (9S2) and Kate Lee (9C2) taking the group award.
