School Closure – Wednesday, 19 September, 2018
Dear SIS parents and students,
Although EDB is now allowing schools to reopen, we have taken the difficult decision, in liaison with EDB, that SIS must remain closed to students on Wednesday. As you know, the safety of our students is our number one priority and the damage caused by Typhoon Mangkhut to the area around the school has been significant. At this stage, we cannot guarantee that our students would be able to safely access the school tomorrow, nor that they would be able to quickly leave the area should an emergency situation arise, and there may also be remaining challenges for our staff in reaching the site tomorrow.
SIS therefore remains closed on Wednesday while the recovery operation continues. Once the public authorities have made the area around the school safe, we will reopen.
We will continue to communicate regularly and teachers will continue to send work electronically to students. As soon as we can safely reopen to students, we will do so.
Thank you for your continued understanding in this exceptional situation.
