Congratulations to Crystal and Karina!
Crystal Lee (11N1) and Karina Poon (12N2) represented Hong Kong at the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking Championship (WIDPSC) held in Sydney. Students from around the world competed in the championship in four categories – debating, persuasive speaking or after-dinner speaking, interpretive reading and impromptu speaking. At the championship, Karina made it to the finals for persuasive speaking.
“The competition was an extremely fun and memorable one. It allowed us to continue pushing the limits of our debating and public speaking skills on an international stage, while learning from talented students around the world. Although the lead-up to the competition was tough, the feeling of exhilaration delivering speeches and readings was worth the long hours of preparation. Just as importantly, as much as the championship was a serious one, being able to interact with like-minded students from different countries was a unique experience for both of us. Given the intensity of the competition, we were also grateful for the leisure time we had to explore Sydney! The lasting friendships and memories between people from our team as well as international competitors were the biggest takeaway from the event. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience and we are so honoured to have been a part of it.” – Crystal & Karina
