A Grade Girls Basketball
What a result for the A grade basketball squad! The girls faced off against the 2014/15 Divison 1 girls champions, Hon Wah College, on Saturday 3rd Oct at Sheung Wan Sports Centre, with the goal of keeping the score margin below 30 points! (The last time we played this team they beat us by 60 points.)
The whistle went and the first basket was scored by SIS. The girls were incredible in defence, pressuring the ball at every opportunity to force Hon Wah to rush their shots and consequently miss lots of baskets. At quarter time SIS were up by 2 baskets.
Thinking Hon Wah had put their bench players on for the first quarter, the girls were prepared for a tougher time in the next 3 quarters. They maintained the same agression in defence and offence resulting in Hon Wah getting in to foul trouble half way through the quarter. Ingrid Lim’s spot-on free throw shooting ensured that we stayed firmly in contention and we finished the half with the score tied.
The third quarter saw Hon Wah find their 3 point shooting form and they took the lead by 1 basket. Despite chucking everything we had at the opposition, we couldn’t take back the lead and finished the game 6 points down (3 baskets).
Despite the losing score, the team played their best basketball to date and should be super proud of themselves for keeping the score tight. Well done ladies.
