South Island School Celebrates Exceptional Achievements of 2024 IB Graduates

South Island School is excited to celebrate the remarkable achievements of our 2024 IB Diploma graduates.  Our resilient students continue to excel, achieving some of our best-ever results outside of the COVID-19 pandemic years.

This IB cohort quickly learned to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances over the course of their time at South Island School due to the pandemic. May 2024 was the second year that students had to complete the full suite of IB assessments since 2019, and the International Baccalaureate Organization continues to maintain that grade distributions will revert back to May 2019 levels.

29.5% of our students achieved 40 points or higher, demonstrating their exceptional abilities, resilience and dedication to academic excellence. Overall, it is a fantastic set of results. Our average this year is 36.5, which is a significant increase from last year and the highest average ever for SIS outside of the three COVID-inflated years. Four students achieved the perfect score of 45 with an additional five students achieving a score of 44. These accomplishments are remarkable given the constant changes and challenges our students have faced over the pandemic.

Additionally, we are also proud to announce that 11 students have attained the IB Career-related Programme qualification, underscoring the continued success of our strongly developing IBCP programme. 18 students also attained the Bilingual Diploma, up from 11 recipients from last year. These accomplishments reflect our dedication to helping each student choose the best pathway for their personal and academic growth and creating a learning environment that fits their needs.

The exceptional achievements of the 2024 cohort in both the IB Diploma Programme and the IB Careers-related Programme are a testament to the unwavering support and guidance provided by our teachers and parents. South Island School acknowledges and appreciates their invaluable contributions in nurturing the success of our students.
